Roller cone bits are a type of drilling equipment whose task is to destroy rock. The action of this crushing-chipping tool can be percussion (K), chipping (C, CT), impact-chipping (T, TK) and cutting-chipping (M). Arms of the cone are usually performed in the form of teeth of various configurations and lengths or in the form of pressed carbide pins. The main design feature of the cone bit is the design of its cones, their equipping with carbide teeth, flushing devices and the support pattern. The type of this drilling equipment is determined by equipping the cutters with teeth, as well as their location.

The cone bit, depending on the purpose, differs in the type of weapon, the number of cones, and has various types of bearings: rolling, sliding, or combined.
