Barite (Barite Concentrate)

Barite concentrate is chemically a natural barium sulfate (BaSO4). Barite is used in the following industries: In the production of rubber products, the mineral is used as an inert and weakly active filler in the manufacture of hard rubber grades. In the cement industry, it is used to produce highly sulfate-resistant barium-containing Portland cement and heat-resistant, heavy-duty oil-well cements. Adding barite to cement significantly improves the water and corrosion resistance of concrete. In construction, it is used as an additive to concrete mixes, and in the production of dry construction mixes as a protection against the harmful effects of X-rays. In road construction, it is used as a filler for higher-quality coatings, ensuring a durable and flexible layer. In metallurgy, it is used as an additive to intensify the ferroalloy production process. In ceramics production, it is used to produce tiles and heavy clay products. Barite concentrate is primarily used to stabilize borehole walls and prevent fluid ingress during oil and gas well drilling in challenging geological and technical conditions. Barite is also used in the chemical, paint and varnish, electrical, asbestos, geological exploration, and other industries, according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Barite concentrate is often used to equip X-ray rooms. Barite concentrates of grades KB-6, KB-5, and KB-4 are used in the chemical, paint and varnish, asbestos, and other industries. These grades are classified by the manufacturer as Class A. Barite grades KB-6, KB-5, and KB-3 are used in the oil, gas, and geological exploration industries to prepare weighting agents (barite weighting agents) or as weighting agents for drilling fluids. These grades are classified by the manufacturer as Class B.
