Well testing (WT) during drilling is one of the primary methods of monitoring well construction. It essentially combines three independent approaches that existed prior to the advent of WT: mud logging, express petrophysical studies, and information-measuring systems (IMS). Information obtained during WT is the foundation for monitoring well conditions at all stages of construction and commissioning, with the aim of understanding the geological profile, achieving high technical and economic performance, and ensuring compliance with environmental requirements. WT varies widely, from the most basic level without the use of personnel to the use of modern technologies and highly qualified personnel. Currently, WT is evolving into an information hub during well construction, including monitoring drilling parameters such as weight on bit, rotor torque, rate of penetration, mud level in tanks, mud flow rate, as well as data received from other operators.
