Description:
The GW165-5.2/5.6MW is a permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) smart wind turbine from Goldwind, designed for onshore applications under IEC S wind class. The turbine features a gearless architecture that reduces mechanical complexity and improves reliability. It offers two power ratings – 5.2 MW and 5.6 MW – allowing operators to match turbine output to site‑specific wind conditions. The large rotor diameter of 165 m provides a swept area of 21,382 m², enabling high energy capture at moderate wind speeds. Key smart features include a full‑power converter, PLC‑based control, and an integrated lightning protection system certified to GL standards.
