Description:
This technology uses the AE phenomenon, and was created in collaboration with Tailored Collaboration to provide monitoring of power transformers in the operating mode in order to identify, locate and evaluate electrical and thermal damage. The technology is based on the procedure proposed by Tailored Collaboration and was finally debugged in the process of a special program.
Overview:

AE sensors are installed on the transformers, covering the transformer tank and the LTC compartment (if available). In addition, alternative sensors are used to measure pump current, fan current, load current, transformer tank wall temperature and LTC compartment. This information is used in post-processing of data to compare the behavior of these parameters with AE parameters. Data is recorded within 24 hours in order to cover the full cycle load of the transformer (day-night).

The results are presented in the form of a 3-dimensional location chart and a table of damage types (if any). To determine the degree of danger of the defect and assess the quality of the entire transformer, a calibration system is used that determines the maintenance plan of the device. The system uses PAC DiSP acoustic emission digital equipment. This system has specialized software for collecting data at the monitoring facility and has several post-processing programs. The key properties of this software are its ability to perform three-dimensional location of sources and classify various types of AE signals using the principle of neural networks.
