Dielectric boots

Dielectric boots are recommended as an additional insulating means of protection against electric shock at voltages over 1000 V. The boots are made by molding from dielectric rubber tested at 20,000 volts. They are tested once every 36 months at 15 kV for 1 min. The shoes must be stored in a dry place, avoiding mechanical damage. If cracks occur in the rubber or the sole is worn out, the shoes must be disposed of; it is prohibited to use a faulty protective equipment in working conditions. Also, it is necessary to observe the expiration date; a few days before its expiration, dielectric boots must be changed. After using galoshes and boots, they should be cleaned of dirt and dried if moisture gets on them: dampness, dust and dirt penetrate the material and reduce its shelf life and properties. If the lining in your boots peels off, you should take the shoes to a specialist; you should not try to fix the problem yourself using improvised means.
