Drill bit

Drill bit - a drilling tool designed for rotary drilling of exploration wells with an annular bottom hole with coring, consisting of a core ring (body), a matrix with cutting elements, divided into sectors by flushing channels (grooves). One of the elements of drilling equipment.

  Differs from the drill bit in smaller sizes. It is mainly used for drilling boreholes, blast holes of small and medium diameter, core drilling during exploratory drilling. According to the material of manufacture of the working surface, drill bits are divided into carbide and diamond.

Carbide crowns for exploration purposes are divided into three main groups:

Group I - for drilling soft rocks (ribbed, coarse);

Group II - for drilling low abrasive rocks of medium hardness (smooth-walled, incisive);

Group III - for drilling abrasive rocks of medium hardness (smooth-walled, micro-cutting or self-sharpening).
