Bodine Electric Company
Bodine Electric Company is a family-owned American manufacturer founded in 1905 by Swedish immigrant brothers Carl and Paul Bodine in Chicago, Illinois. The company specialises in the design and manufacture of fractional horsepower (<1 HP) motors, gearmotors, and motor speed controls. With over 120 years of history, Bodine has grown from producing its first 1/20–1/12 hp "D-type" motor to offering thousands of standard and custom drive solutions. The company operates two primary locations: its Corporate Office and Advanced Manufacturing Operations in Peosta, Iowa (15 miles west of Dubuque), where component manufacturing, final assembly, and the main stocking warehouse are located; and its Sales and Innovation Center in Northfield, Illinois (20 miles north of Chicago), which houses Sales, Marketing, Design Engineering, and Electronic Products Manufacturing. Bodine's quality management system is certified to ISO 9001, and its products comply with UL, RoHS, and REACH requirements. The company serves OEMs in medical imaging, laboratory testing, food service, factory automation, packaging, farm automation, metal fabrication, chemical pumping, and material handling. Bodine remains family-owned with third and fourth generation family members actively involved in the business, and continues to innovate with explosion-proof motors for hazardous locations and solar-powered motion control solutions for the energy industry.
