GW155-4.5MW PMDD Smart Wind Turbine

The GW155-4.5MW is a Permanent Magnet Direct Drive (PMDD) smart wind turbine developed by Goldwind. It is designed for onshore use and particularly aimed at "grid parity" projects in medium to high wind speed regions such as the "Three North" area of China. The turbine is built on Goldwind's 3S platform, optimizing proven reliability with newer, larger rotor diameters and higher capacity ratings. The key to the turbine's design is its gearless, direct-drive system, which eliminates high-speed transmission parts. This results in a 30% reduction in components compared to traditional geared turbines, enhancing reliability and reducing long-term operation and maintenance costs. To maximize energy output and performance, the GW155-4.5MW integrates several smart technologies. This includes EFarm™ for anticipatory control and EnTelligent™ for site-wide coordination, which together can increase annual energy production by up to 4%. It also uses a full-power converter that ensures strong grid compatibility, low-voltage ride-through capabilities, and a wide range of reactive power regulation.
