Description:
Geological and technological studies are designed to monitor the condition of the well at all stages of its construction
Overview:

Geological and technological studies, well logging while drilling - are a combination of three independent areas that existed before the advent of geological logging - gas logging, rapid petrophysical studies, information-measuring systems (IMS) for monitoring the drilling process.

Geological and technological research is designed to monitor the condition of the well at all stages of its construction and commissioning in order to study the geological section, achieve high technical and economic indicators, as well as ensure compliance with environmental requirements.

GTI varies widely from the simplest level without the use of personnel and ending with the use of modern technologies and highly qualified personnel. As the GTI is developing, it is becoming an information center during well construction, including monitoring of drilling parameters, such as weight on a bit, rotor torque, penetration rate, level of drilling fluid in tanks, flow rate of drilling fluid, and data received from other operators.

Geological and technological research of wells include:

  • monitoring of drilling parameters;
  • monitoring of drilling and related operations, such as tripping, cementing, fishing, etc.
  • analysis of cuttings and the allocation of formations that are promising for oil and gas;
  • study of the gas composition of the drilling fluid; various types of sludge and core studies.

Defined Parameters

For strict adherence to the technological regimes of well drilling and monitoring, the following parameters are recorded and calculated:

  • bottom hole depth and mechanical penetration rate;
  • hook weight and bit load;
  • rotor speed;
  • rotor torque;
  • mud pressure on manifold riser;
  • the number of strokes of the pumps;
  • mud flow rate at the inlet of the well;
  • mud flow rate at the exit from the well (flow indicator);
  • level and volume of drilling fluid in receiving tanks and top-up tanks;
  • the speed of descent and ascent of the drilling tool;
  • the density of the drilling fluid at the inlet and outlet of the well;
  • solution temperature at the inlet and outlet of the well;
  • determination of volumetric and total gas content of the drilling fluid;
  • determination of the component composition of hydrocarbon gas;
  • hydrogen sulfide content in the atmosphere of the rig.

All this allows you to create the basis for trouble-free operation of the drilling crew at all stages of well construction. Direct control of the quality of the work of the drilling crew, control of strict compliance with the parameters of GTN drilling, optimization of the operating modes of drilling, open drilling operations, flushing, etc. are the main task of the station for geological and technical research and gas logging.

Since the beginning of the new year 2015, the Samaraneftegeofiziki Well Hydrodynamic Research Service began work on a new customer - RN-Purneftegaz LLC. In January, the first station was launched at this well.

Already in March 2015, 15 GTI batches were operating in the north, thereby the Service breathed new life into the development of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug for CISEO PJSC.

Work at this facility will continue, at least until 2017. However, GTI is ready to increase the number of customers and expand the geography of its presence in the north.
