Sea ice
The studied characteristics of sea ice are grouped into several main blocks:
Morphometry of ice and ice formations
External geometry: vertical and horizontal dimensions of flat and layered ice, ice formations (LO), blocks, composing hummocks and granules.
Internal structure: allocation of layers and inclusions, determination of their spatial distribution inside the LO, estimation of sizes, volumes, mass fractions.
Additionally, the thickness and density of the snow cover is determined .
Physico-mechanical properties of ice
Study of the ice structure (textures and structures), classification of ice layers according to structural and genetic characteristics.
Obtaining distributions of temperature, salinity and density of smooth and agitated ice.
Determination of strength and deformation characteristics of smooth and agglomerated ice during compression and bending.
Ice dynamics
Determination of ice drift .
Determination of vertical ice vibrations (level fluctuations).
