Repair of PDC bits and Calibrators
A specially developed wear assessment method allows for a quick assessment of the extent, feasibility, and cost of repairs. Each bit is examined individually, with company specialists assessing the current condition of each individual component, as well as the previous repair history and previous operations. Based on the initial data, a "Flaw Detection Report" is compiled, detailing all necessary work to replace and/or restore the bit components. Two key criteria are also assessed, which require that repairs be performed:
- The cost of repairs should not exceed the cost of manufacturing a new chisel;
- The durability and performance results of a reconditioned bit should be almost identical to those of a new one under similar operating conditions.
Repair of PDC drill bit involves :
- inspection of PDC cutters, their replacement or rotation;
- restoration of the landing sockets for the incisors;
- restoration of hard alloy surfacing on the working surface;
- restoration of hydromonitor nozzle assemblies;
- restoration of the calibrating diameter of the bit (permissible wear up to 5% of the nominal diameter);
- restoration (replacement) of connecting threads.
Citrin-Service LLC has full-cycle experience in the production and repair of drill bits in Ufa, expertise in the design and manufacturing principles of PDC cutters for various lithological conditions, and extensive experience in providing service support for its own PDC bits.
