Description:
The Deepwater Atlas is a state-of-the-art ultra‑deepwater drillship designed and built by Jurong Shipyard, Singapore (Espadon JE3T design). It entered service in 2022 and is operated by Transocean. The vessel is DNV‑classified (+1A1, Ship Shaped Drilling Unit, E0, DYNPOS AUTRO, DRILL, CRANE, HELDK, BIS, MPD) and sails under the flag of the Marshall Islands. The drillship is equipped for harsh environment and ultra‑deepwater drilling, with a designed water depth capability of 12,000 ft (3,658 m) and a maximum drilling depth of 40,000 ft (12,192 m). It features a dual‑derrick design, five high‑pressure mud pumps, a 20,000 psi BOP stack, and an advanced DP‑3 dynamic positioning system. The vessel also incorporates MPD (Managed Pressure Drilling) readiness.
