Description:
Photowatt is a French manufacturer of photovoltaic modules, founded in 1979. Initially a subsidiary of Philips, the company conducted research on solar cells for satellites. In 1984, Photowatt transitioned from research to industrial production, becoming one of the world's first PV module manufacturers. In 1990, the company definitively shifted to industrial production. By 1998, Photowatt was among the top four largest PV module manufacturers globally. Photowatt is the only French manufacturer that maintains full control over the production cycle – from raw material to installation. The company is a co‑founder of the panel recycling organisation Soren (PV Cycle France).
