The GEOTRON Joint-Stock Company begins its history with the formation on November 1, 1981 of a design and technological bureau with pilot production of geophysical instruments and equipment. The bureau was subordinate to the management of ZapSibneftegeofizik, and among its founders it is worth highlighting the heads of Glavneftegeofiziki of Minnefteprom Nikolai Andreevich Savostyanov and Leonid Ivanovich Ivanov, as well as ZapSibneftegeofizika Ivan Mikhailovich Dovgopoluk and Eduard Evgenievich Lukyanov.
