Using many years of experience in laying pipelines using the HDD method, we have developed and successfully put into practice expanders of our own production that fully satisfy us according to our requirements.

When constructing a drilling channel, especially of large diameters, the problem of observing the geometric parameters of the well arises. The channel shape becomes oval during sequential expansion, the rimmer begins to bury, as a result of which the loads on the drilling tool and installation increase, the speed drops, and the cost of drilling work increases.

The specialists of our organization found a solution to this problem in the development of an expander with a centralizer in front of the structure.

The centralizer, moving along the barrel of a pre-drilled well, does not allow the drilling tool to sink and holds the tool in the center of the channel. This is also facilitated by hydrostatic lifting force, due to the hollowness of the centralizer, which is not filled with bentonite.

Blades are mounted behind the centrator, which due to their design effectively cut the rock and mix it with drilling fluid in a high-quality manner. At the same time, the cuttings mix well with bentonite, resulting in a “mixer effect” - this allows the pulp to be transported qualitatively and in a timely manner from the drilling channel. The specialists of our company have achieved the optimal arrangement of carbide teeth and hydraulic monitors for supplying drilling mud.

Our technical solutions have allowed us to create a new design that has no analogues in the HDD market, which effectively copes with the difficulties encountered during drilling.

These products are manufactured at the production base of Trenchless Technologies LLC by highly qualified specialists, using modern equipment. Thanks to the use of CNC plasma cutting machine and semi-automatic welding, accuracy of assembly of the product and high quality of welded joints are achieved, welds are protected by highly alloyed electrodes.

In comparison with analogs, expanders from Trenchless Technologies LLC, called Cedar, have a number of advantages and have already proven themselves in working at HDD facilities with various types of soils. Our expanders work in soils of I-IV category for drillability. These expanders are especially effective when working in clay and loam.

The Cedar expander, in comparison with the Kodiak or Carrot expanders, gives a significant reduction in the load on rotation and a better yield of cuttings due to the large free space between the blades.
