Description:
Disposal of the borehole products obtained during the well testing process avoids the problems associated with the need for oil storage and environmental pollution. To limit the thermal effect on the drilling rigs, the burners can be mounted on booms with a length of 18 - 26 meters, which allow these burners to be placed at a considerable distance from the drilling rigs.
Overview:

Schlumberger high-performance burners are used for the following purposes:

  • when testing land and sea boreholes,
  • when cleaning the bottom-hole zone of wells,
  • when disposing of waste,
  • oil-based drilling fluid utilization,
  • foam utilization during production intensification works,
  • to ensure safety at the rig during discharge.

Non-standard areas of application for burners include the burning of high density oil from sunken tankers or the burning of oil film collected on the coast.

The use of burners was caused by the need to improve offshore well testing technologies. Before the widespread introduction of burners in practice, most of the tests of offshore wells were associated with the need to build expensive oil storage facilities. Thus, for technical reasons and for safety reasons, only small quantities of petroleum products could be extracted during testing, which limited the studied area of the reservoir and the information obtained from the well. The burners allow the oil to be disposed of in compliance with safety measures and taking into account the requirements for environmental protection, which allows them to be used when testing surface wells.

Advantages and characteristics of burners:

  • various types of burners are used to burn oil, gas and oil-based drilling mud;
  • oil burners are equipped with one or more nozzles depending on the predicted product flow;
  • to increase combustion efficiency, nebulizers break the feed into microscopic droplets;
  • provides remote ignition using controlled lighters;
  • nozzles can be oriented manually or pneumatically depending on the direction of the wind.

The main characteristics of the remote arrows:

  • are products of modular design, are delivered in two lengths;
  • provide access to burners;
  • can be oriented both in horizontal and vertical plane;
  • equipped with all the necessary piping for connecting burners.
