Toolface Control

Increase slide accuracy and rate of penetration (ROP) with Pason’s directional automation software Pason’s Toolface Control automatically adjusts top drive position and auto driller setpoints to orient and hold Toolface during the sliding process. Directional drillers can submit instructions to the driller from the doghouse, a trailer on site, or off site locations in support of remote workflows. The software automatically orients to the instructed toolface, applies weight to the bit, and executes the slide. The result is increased slide accuracy and consistency, as measured by the aggregate of absolute Toolface errors. Beyond accuracy and consistency, slide times are reduced from algorithms within the platform that apply learned reactive torque to minimize the amount of time spent orienting the bit and maximize the rate of penetration (ROP) throughout the slide.
