TANKPAC— developed by RAS together with British Petroleum, Kuwait Petroleum and Shell. It allows you to assess the condition of the bottom of the RVS without taking it out of operation. By 2014, the number of tanks surveyed using TANKPAC technology exceeded 12,000.
Overview:
TANKPAC classifies PBC bottoms into categories from “A” to “E” in order of increasing degree of damage. AE sensors are mounted on the wall of the PBC along the circumference near the bottom.
The number of sensors varies from 3 to 38 depending on the size. The procedure does not require additional load of PBC, because Acoustic signals caused by corrosive processes or leaks are recorded. TANKPAC allows you to adequately assess the need for decommissioning of the RCS from operation and determine the urgency of internal repairs. Processing of the recorded data is performed automatically taking into account the existing database of AE signals. To locate sources, special algorithms are used. Examination of the bottom of the RVS takes little time, with 100% probability undamaged tanks are found that do not require repair (category “A”).
