Kaldo L Furnace (Outotec® Kaldo L Furnace – 4th Generation Top Blown Rotary Converter)

Metso's Outotec® Kaldo L Furnace is the 4th generation Top Blown Rotary Converter (TBRC), utilizing vast experience from previous TBRCs in steel and nonferrous industries. It is a flexible solution for smelting and converting various primary and secondary raw materials such as concentrates, copper scrap, e-waste, and precious metals anode slimes. The system is part of the Metso Plus portfolio, highlighting offerings that contribute to a more sustainable environment. Features include advanced charging and off-gas systems, fully encapsulated furnace casing for ventilation and stray emission prevention. The heating and converting processes use water-cooled lances with hydraulic drive, and a Multi-Purpose Utility Lance for temperature control and refractory wear measurement. The system includes an emergency energy accumulator for automatic lance removal and vessel tilting in case of malfunction. Process control is managed from an operator panel with an advisor system. Kaldo has been successfully used in precious metals, copper, and lead processing for decades. A pilot plant TBRC Kaldo L is available for customer testing.
