MTB 365 Cylinder
There's a moment on every construction site, every mining operation, every demolition project — when the entire job rests on a single component. Not the machine. Not the operator. The cylinder buried inside the breaker, absorbing thousands of impact cycles per hour without a single point of failure.
That's the environment the MTB 365 Cylinder by MERIT was built for.
Why Most Cylinders Fail Before They Should
Hydraulic breakers operate at the edge of what metal can endure. Relentless percussion, extreme internal pressures, abrasive debris, and thermal cycling — all converging on one component with no tolerance for compromise. A poorly processed bore, an inconsistent heat treatment, a material batch that wasn't properly degassed — any of these invisible flaws will eventually surface. Usually at the worst possible time.
At MERIT, we've spent two decades studying exactly how cylinders fail. The MTB 365 was engineered around those failure modes — not around production cost.
Steel That Earns Its Properties
Before a single machining operation begins, the MTB 365 billet passes through three stages of metallurgical refinement: Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) melting, Ladle Furnace (LF) chemistry adjustment, and Vacuum Degassing (VD) to eliminate dissolved gases and internal porosity.
The result is a chemically precise, structurally homogeneous billet — with 1.60% Chromium for surface hardness and wear resistance, 1.52% Nickel for toughness and impact absorption, and 0.27% Molybdenum for strength retention under elevated temperatures and dynamic loading.
This isn't standard steel. It's a composition engineered specifically for the demands of hydraulic percussion systems.
Forged, Not Cast
The MTB 365 is hot-forged at controlled temperatures — a process that aligns the grain flow of the steel along the geometry of the component, rather than leaving it random as in casting. The difference shows up in fatigue life, crack propagation resistance, and overall durability under cyclic loading. You don't see it with the naked eye. You feel it over the service life of the component.
Tolerances That Are Standard, Not Special
Every MTB 365 blank enters our CNC machining process with one non-negotiable requirement: ±0.01 mm across all critical dimensions. Bore diameter of 280 mm. Total length of 750 mm. Surface hardness measured and certified at 293 HB — balanced precisely between wear resistance and structural ductility.
These aren't exceptional results pulled from our best production runs. They are the consistent baseline across every unit, every batch, every order.
Verified. Documented. Traceable.
Visual inspection is the minimum. At MERIT, it's just the starting point.
Every MTB 365 undergoes 100% volumetric Ultrasonic Testing to detect any internal discontinuities invisible to the surface. Radiation testing is conducted using the Radcomm RC 4069-2 device. Surface crack inspection is performed post-machining in accordance with DIN 7527 Part 6.
Every cylinder ships with full material traceability documentation, ladle analysis certificates, and a signed quality inspection report. Our customers don't just install a cylinder — they install a verified record of how that cylinder was made.
21 Days. 12 Months. No Shortcuts.
Lead time is 21 working days from order confirmation — structured across material procurement, hot forging, CNC machining, quality verification, and final dispatch. Each stage is planned, not rushed.
Once installed, every MTB 365 carries a 12-month manufacturer warranty. If a problem arises from material or workmanship, we resolve it. No bureaucracy, no deflection.
Built for Those Who Can't Afford Failure
The MTB 365 is not positioned as the lowest-cost option in the market. It was designed for OEM integrators building new breaker production lines, and for maintenance engineers replacing field units where reliability is the primary criterion — not price.
If you need a cylinder that performs under the conditions your operation actually runs at, the MTB 365 was built with your application in mind.
