Anti-Sealing and anti-Seizing Additive RS-401
| Name of the indicator | Norm |
|---|---|
| Appearance | An oily liquid ranging from yellowish to brown in color. Sediment may be present. |
| Density at 20 °C, g/cm³, within | 0.810-0.835 |
| Pour point, °C, not higher | -40 |
Scope and method of application
RS-401 is used with all types of water-based drilling fluids. It is most effective when drilling upper intervals to minimize rock sticking on the bit and BHA. It reduces torque during drill string rotation and drag during tripping operations, even without a lubricant additive. It is an effective water-repellent for drilled solids.
Used in drilling fluids at concentrations of 0.2 to 1% to prevent balling. Effective in baths to eliminate sticking.
concentration 8–10%.
Toxicity and handling
The RS-401 anti-seal additive is classified as a flammable liquid. No toxic substances are formed during combustion. The RS-401 anti-seal additive is classified as a flammable liquid.
