The SDO electric furnace type features a bogie hearth and is used for heat treatment of various materials (quenching, annealing, normalizing, and tempering). Each heat treatment operation has its own temperature regime, which affects the metal's internal stress, hardness, ductility, impact strength, and other properties according to the specification. This electric furnace is suitable for handling heavy, large workpieces, as well as batches of small parts.

To make loading easier, models are available with different door and tray movement options: electric, electromechanical, or manual (R, E, P, 2E). The cast tray is made of heat-resistant steel.
