Seismic exploration occupies a leading place among the geophysical methods used in the search for oil and gas fields.

The method is based on the study of the propagation in the earth's crust of elastic waves caused by an explosion or shock. Penetrating into the geological environment, the waves are reflected and refracted and partially return to the surface of the earth, where they are recorded by the seismic station. The propagation time of the waves and the nature of their oscillations allows us to judge the composition of the rock, the depth and the shape of the reflecting geological boundaries.

GEOTECH Seismic Exploration performs seismic exploration in any configuration - 2D, 3D, 4D both on land and in the transit zone.

2D terrestrial seismic work, as a rule, involves a full range of exploration work, including processing and interpretation of data with the issuance of recommendations for exploration drilling. An example characterizing the capabilities of GEOTECH Seismic Exploration for 2D operations is the completed project on Lepchinskaya Square in Eastern Siberia

3D ground seismic operations can be performed using 3 types of sources of excitation of seismic signals - explosive, vibrational and pulsed electromagnetic. In recent years, GEOTECH Seismic Exploration has carried out a large number of high-resolution wide-azimuth projects. The following completed projects can be cited as examples of the company's capabilities in the field of 3D work:

  • 3D Karachaganak project in Kazakhstan. The total volume of vibroseismic work performed is 270,000 lb. The work was done using the Slip-sweep method for 6 months, the average productivity was 1,500 fn. per day, and the maximum 2880 fn per day;
  • The 3D project on Radovskaya Square in the Orenburg Region is characterized by both a large number of active channels (about 6,000) and a large number of working channels (more than 15,000) on the project.

2D and 3D works in the transit zone with pneumatic or pulsed electromagnetic:

  • project in the river basin Hangar with pulsed sources, allowing the seismic signal to be excited at shallow depths of water bodies;
  • 3D project in the North Caspian with a large number of active dual (geophonic and hydrophone) channels.

Integrated seismic surveys on land and in the transit zone:

  • 3D Govsany project in Azerbaijan, carried out in the conditions of a suburb of Baku, including a transit zone, an industrial and residential development zone, and a sewage lake. To fulfill the geological task, all four possible sources of excitation were applied - pneumatic (in the coastal zone), pulsed (in the zone of intensive development), vibration (in the zone of less intensive development) and explosive (in the sewage lake and mountain elevations);
  • complex regional seismic projects in Eastern Siberia with the implementation of gravity, electrical, geochemical works.

All projects are carried out in compliance with all requirements of safety and environmental protection, not only Russian but also international. So, for example, during the last four winter seasons, the 3D project was completed at the Salym site in Western Siberia. The work was carried out in full accordance with the requirements for Shell safety and environmental protection, which are among the highest in the world.
