A technology is proposed for separating reservoirs and assessing the saturation pattern in cased oil and gas producing wells using LPG and SGC methods

Tasks to be solved:

  • lithological separation of the studied geological section based on the study of neutron and gamma ray properties and concentrations of radiation-active elements (H, Cl, B, Fe, Ca, Si, etc.) and their ratios;
  • reservoir identification and porosity coefficient determination;
  • determination of oil saturation coefficient;
  • determination of the mineral composition of clays;
  • the allocation in reservoirs of highly radioactive sections — polymictic sandstones with a high content of potassium feldspars, monazite sandstones with a high content of thorium;
  • the allocation of fractured reservoirs and zones of secondary dolomitization of limestone by the high content of uranium;
  • the allocation of waterlogged intervals by geochemical anomalies due to the accumulation of radium on the cement stone due to the passage of the leading front of the injected formation water in the oil reservoir.

The technology is implemented with the help of the CISK-K digital integrated spectrometric logging equipment for wide-range neutron gamma-ray spectrometry of the CISK and GK-S natural gamma-ray spectrometry, which was developed by VNIIGIS NPP in conjunction with GITAS NPF. Small diameters of downhole tools (48 and 90 mm) allow them to be used to study wells through tubing. The downhole tool with a diameter of 90 mm is equipped with a thermometer.

Features of the complex:

  • increased information content due to the use of a wide-range modification of the LPG in the dual-probe version;
  • the ability to perform multi-method measurements in one trip
