1D Geomechanical Modeling Software MLGEOMECHANICS

The MLGeomechanics program allows for 1D geomechanical modeling of a well.
The MLGeomechanics program is designed to solve the following problems:
— calculation of mechanical properties of rocks (1D MMS) along the wellbore;
— calculation of the pore pressure gradient;
— calculation of stress state constants (sv, sh, sh);
— determination of the rock collapse gradient;
— calculation of the absorption gradient of drilling fluid;
— determination of the hydraulic fracturing gradient;
— calculation of the sensitivity of the well wall when changing the density of drilling fluids (DF);
— determination of the optimal well profile that minimizes the risks of collapse, absorption and hydraulic fracturing;
— optimization of well design based on the results of geomechanical modeling (optimal depths for lowering casing strings);
— optimization of drilling process parameters based on the results of geomechanical modeling.
The input data of the program are:
• results of geophysical and geological-technological studies of wells;
• laboratory core test data;
• information about complications and accidents during drilling (absorption zones, collapse zones, sticking, tightening, etc.).
The program allows you to obtain data necessary for further forecasting and selection of well operating modes by depth intervals, as well as export the obtained well parameters in various formats: las and xlsx, txt.

MLGeomechanics includes the following main modules:
• MLMPM;
• MLPorePressure;
•MLStress;
•MLStability;
• MLRisk;
• MLCasingDesign;
• MLOptima;
• MLInclinometry.

MLMPM MODULE

MLMPM is a module of the MLGeomechanics program, in which the calculation of a 1D model of mechanical properties occurs.
This module allows you to implement:
— calculation of Poisson's ratio, shear modulus, Young's modulus, ultimate compressive strength (UCS), angle of internal friction;
— translation of dynamic parameters into static ones (based on laboratory data from core testing, by specifying a formula);
— calibration of parameters according to lithotypes;
— calculation of the NPP and the angle of internal friction based on more than 30 built-in correlation dependencies;
— preview of calculated NPP and angle of internal friction for each lithotype by depth.

MLPOREPRESSURE MODULE

MLPorePressure is a module of the MLGeomechanics program in which the pore pressure gradient is calculated.
This module provides calculation of:
• trend of normal compaction according to GIS data (AC);
• pore pressure gradient;
• pore pressure;
• gradient of overlying rocks;
• vertical stress.

MLSTRESS MODULE

MLStress is a module of the MLGeomechanics program in which the calculation and calibration of the stress profile takes place.
This module allows you to determine:
• calculation of stress profile;
• minimum horizontal stress according to actual data;
• calibration of voltages according to data:
- absorption of BPZ;
— GRP (mini-GRP);
— LOT (Load On Time Test).

MLSTABILITY MODULE

MLStability is a module of the MLGeomechanics program, in which the calculation of the safe corridor of the ESP, EDS is performed.
This module implements calculations:
— gradients of well wall collapse, absorption of BPZ, hydraulic fracturing according to four criteria (Mohr–Coulomb, Mogi–Coulomb, Drucker–Prager, Lade);
— synthetic images of the wellbore wall for different density values (pressure sensitivity);
— circular diagrams of the dependence of the density of the BPZ on the drilling direction for each depth point (sensitivity to the zenith angle and magnetic azimuth);
— risks of complications (MLRisk) and analysis of the impact of parameters (MLRisk).

MLRISK MODULE

MLRisk is a module of the MLGeomechanics program, in which the calculation of risks occurs:

- collapses;
— absorption;
- hydraulic fracturing.

The calculation is performed using the Monte Carlo method.

MLCASINGDESIGN MODULE

MLCasingDesign is a module of the MLGeomechanics program, in which the calculation of the depth of casing strings is performed.
This module implements:
— automatic selection of column depth based on the combined pressure graph;

— manual adjustment of casing string lowering depths;
— formation of a well structure with cementing intervals.

MLOPTIMA MODULE

MLOptima is a module of the MLGeomechanics program, in which the optimization of drilling process parameters takes place.
The module allows you to calculate:
— pressure losses in sections;
— area of the bit nozzles;
— load on the bit from maximizing the rate of penetration and optimization;
— the number of revolutions from maximizing the speed of penetration and optimization;

— efficiency of sludge removal;
— viscosity of the BPZ depending on the abrasive properties of the bit;
— optimal speed of SPO by sections;
— MSE.

MLINCLINOMETRY MODULE

MLInclinometry is a module of the MLGeomechanics program, in which well inclinometry is constructed.

This module implements:
— construction of a wellbore trajectory (2D, 3D) based on inclinometry data;
— entering lithology data into the wellbore.

MLCROSSPLOT MODULE

MLCrossPlot is a module of the MLGeomechanics program, in which cross-plots are constructed and areas with a certain type of dependence are identified, corresponding to certain depth intervals throughout the well section.
This module implements:
— plotting a trend line;
— selection of intervals by depth.
