The multifunctional Pulsar instrument with a diameter of only 44 millimeters allows for high-precision studies in almost any casing string of wells and provides the opportunity for independent assessment of rock mineralogy, reservoir identification, assessment of their reservoir properties, monitoring the production of oil and gas reservoirs, as well as searching for missing hydrocarbon deposits in cased wells

The new generation of radioactive logging tools incorporate the most modern technologies of geophysical instrumentation. A powerful pulsed neutron generator is used in the device as a neutron source. A compact fast neutron counter located next to the generator serves to accurately measure the emitted neutron flux. The device has three gamma-ray detectors: two with scintillators from lanthanum bromide (LaBr3: Ce) and one from yttrium-aluminum perovskite (YAP).

The device allows recording time and energy spectra of gamma rays from interactions of neutrons of different energies with atoms in rocks and reservoir fluids.

As a result of quantitative processing of the obtained spectra, the following parameters are estimated: geochemical and mineralogical compositions of rocks along the section, hydrogen content by thermal neutrons, macro section of superthermal scattering and capture of thermal neutrons, carbon-oxygen ratio (C / O logging ), total content of organic carbon (C org.weight,% ). Interpretation of well log data obtained through a steel casing determines lithology of the rocks, collectors are identified, their porosity, clay content, water saturation, and fluid contact positions are estimated.

The use of the Pulsar instrument in combination with the ThruBit Dipole small-sized cross-dipole CABG allows the estimation of P and S wave velocities, analysis of acoustic anisotropy, mechanical properties and stress profile along the section taking into account layered anisotropy of rock properties through a steel casing, to determine the best intervals for perforation and hydraulic fracturing.

Pulsar GIS is recommended to search for missed deposits in old non-conserved wells or to monitor the development of oil and gas reservoirs.
