Description:
The LAK 4160B is a 4‑pole, fully laminated DC motor featuring a robust square frame design, forming part of the comprehensive LAK 4000 series that spans frame sizes 112 to 280 mm and covers outputs up to 500 kW. The motor incorporates separately excited shunt windings as standard, with main poles and interpoles manufactured from high‑grade insulated electroplate, while the armature core features a large number of cooling ducts and scrambled laminations to minimize torque ripple and facilitate excellent heat dissipation. The armature windings are made of varnish‑insulated copper wire designed for low commutating stresses and high mechanical strength, and are fully impregnated to ensure superior heat transfer and protection against environmental contaminants. Brush holders are equipped with spring‑loaded pressure fingers for consistent brush contact, and the motor is prepared for a wide array of accessories and modifications, including compound windings, roller bearings, shaft seals, and grounding brushes. Standard cooling is self‑ventilation (IC06, IP23), but the motor can be adapted for forced ventilation (IC17/IC37), totally enclosed air‑to‑air (IC666), or air‑water heat exchanger (IC86W) configurations for harsh environments. It is designed for supply from three‑phase fully controlled thyristor converters with a form factor not exceeding 1.05 and offers broad speed regulation through armature voltage control (constant torque) and field weakening (constant power, up to 1.5:1 range). Overload capability is rated at 160% of nominal torque for 15 seconds every 5 minutes, and the motor complies with IEC 60034 standards with insulation Class H and temperature rise Class F for frames up to 180.
