MS4 Series Medium‑Voltage Motor (Cast Iron Frame)

The MS4 Series is a compact medium‑voltage motor series with cast iron frames, developed to suit local South African requirements. This compact MV motor series is derived from the previous medium‑voltage motor series manufactured in Benoni. The MS4 design concept centres around economical life‑time ownership whilst providing high performance, high efficiency and low maintenance requirements. The motor is available with voltage ranges from 400 V up to 11,000 V, with kW ratings up to 1,200 kW depending on voltage and application duty. Enclosure options range from TEFC IP23 IC01 to IP65 IC411 with ribbed cast iron frames. Frame sizes are 355, 400 and 450 mm in cast iron (500 mm fabricated). Mounting configurations include IMB3 (horizontal) and IMV1 (vertical). Insulation is Class "F" with VPI Resivac processing, suitable as standard at 1,650 m above sea level at 40°C ambient with Class "B" temperature rise. Bearing designs include ball, roller and sleeve options to suit application. Rotors are die‑cast aluminium cage as standard, with copper cage option available. The MS4 series is suitable for arduous service requirements in mining and heavy industrial environments.
