Emulsifier DIRECT MUL-D

DIRECT MUL-D emulsifier is designed to produce drilling fluids containing a hydrocarbon phase emulsified in water or brines, including a standard WBM component package. Such direct-emulsion drilling fluid systems typically have a reduced density and can be successfully used when drilling under abnormally low pressure conditions. The addition of salts to the aqueous phase of a direct-emulsion WBM makes it possible to drill through chemogenic horizons, particularly those containing salt formations. DIRECT MUL-D is a dry direct-emulsion emulsifier, a composition of steric stabilizers and surfactants, including ethoxylated and ethoxylated products with a medium to high hydrophilic-lipophilic balance. The product is designed to create stable first-order emulsions in solutions with varying hydrocarbon phase contents and low to moderate mineralization. The emulsifier is an excellent wetting agent and solubilizer, which ensures good emulsification of any quantities of the hydrocarbon phase and maintenance of the drilled rock in a hydrophilic wetted state. It is possible to prepare direct emulsion systems using the base of any mineral oil, petroleum or diesel fuel. The emulsifier has a DIRECT MUL-D+ modification, which includes an additive to improve the stability and rheological properties of the direct-emulsion drilling mud. This modification of the emulsifier significantly simplifies the procedure for preparing direct emulsions due to the presence of a specially selected steric stabilizer.
